Coining a new term

John Bugay, March 5, 2013:

Carl Trueman, March 18, 2013

We see who is following whom here. This will be the biggest newly-coined term since Bryan Cross gave up the word “monocausalism”. And “ecclesial deism”. (Or is that “ecclesial docetism”? Or maybe just “ecclesial consumerism”).

In fine Presbyterian form, Dr. Trueman and I already differ on this. He says “The yuck factor is a significant and deadly element of Christian thinking.” In my usage, it’s the one healthy thing in the Roman Catholic Sex Abuse Scandal – it’s the sense of shame that certain Roman Catholics feel about parading Cardinal Sex Molesters around as heroes on national TV.

    1. Hi Ken -- glad to see you made it back safely. I did see Trueman's other article, but I've been very busy. Bryan had to give up "Ecclesial Deism" among the Reformed because of our understanding that God did not step back and let things go -- what we see is part of his plan.
